Ordered on Doordash. Waited near an hour for doordash to call me and tell me that Cafe Gabriela's "system is down"... Tried calling the place directly and a rude lady who put me on hold.
My absolute favorites are the fried egg sandwich in the morning and the pork adobo sandwich in the afternoon. They always have exceptional pastries and its my go-to for cold brew coffee and mochas. Their staff is also courteous and amazing.
Wasn't sure what to expect, but the blue bottle coffee and the pastries were enjoyable. The people working here were also friendly. Definitely a great cafe to have in the Old Oakland/Downtown neighborhood.
Great breakfast sandwich. Good hot individually drip brewed coffee. Mmmm
Wonderful food and exceptional owners.
Great for a quick snack. I've had most of their sandwiches and they don't disappoint.
Go here. Get all the food!
Amazing pulled pork sandwiches!
Informal, limited seating. Delicious breakfast sandwich and iced chai tea.
This is an excellent sandwich spot by my office, I LOVE coming here for the turkey cranberry and simple salad. The ingredients are fresh and the place always smells amazing when they are making adobo. Gabriela's always has good soup specials in winter so be sure to try that out as well. Definitely a "go-to" lunch spot in Oakland, always consistent "goodness".
Service is Great And yu cant go wrong with the Drip Coffee 😄
The Pulled pork sandwich is amazing and lives up to the hype.
Great food and service from great people! The women at cafe gabriela offer exceptional service and hospitality while also supporting important social justice issues. Love love love.
Nice people, not a roomy inviting place, small portions for the price, very basic sandwich. I'm still looking for a place that will impress with an easy sandwich
Good coffee and service.
Seriously the most unassuming, yet PERFECT place for the most killer toasted breakfast baguette. Coffee great & service and friendliness to match. Yay to this local GEM !!!
I admire this restaurant a lot. there is a nice air. The cuisine is splendid. the service is powerful and the team is very professional. The pay is satisfactory. I definitely recommend.
Excellent and fast service! One of the best breakfast places I've been to since being in the city. Highly recommend!
Friendly people. Great coffee and food.
Don't waste your time, they close at least half an hour early.
OMG I order a cafe au lait one sip and I suddenly realized this may be the best cup of coffee I have had in s half a century. I ordered a bagel sandwich off the menu. I was carefully guided to jalapeno cheese bagel with turkey, tomatoes and a balsamic vinaigrette.
Delicious food and coffee and great people serving it. We had a great time and will come back.
I will dream of the sopressara and fresh mozzarella sandwich for months to come, delicious baguette roll, meat, cheese, fresh greens and an amazing vinaigrette dressing. The service was quick, and they couldn’t have been more pleasant. I’ve already recommended this place to my son-in-law. Carry out and find a bench outside. Nice people working here that actually care about their customers. Stopped in every morning last week for work. They have great food including the fried egg sandwich and the pulled pork.
Awesome sandwiches and salads, reasonable priced!
Cafe Gabriela is the best local spot! So happy to work close to this cafe, they have fulfilled orders of 20+ lunches and last minute group requests like a champ! The food is delicious! Having eaten my way through their menu, there is not a single item I wouldn't recommend. The meats, salad, bread, cookies... everything are delicious and fresh. The customer service is a AAA+!
Rude service, they don’t respect position in line when serving customers
Great food!
Amazing food and coffee!
During this last visit, I had the mozzarella and tomato sandwich. V. filling. I also had an ube crinkle cookie and it was lovely.
Some of the best coffee, food and friendlist cafes in downtown
Delicious food, coffee, service, music & vibes. Cafe Gabriela is full of positivity!
Their pulled pork adobo sandwich is a must-have! Be warned that the venue is kinda small, so there aren't a lot of places to sit.
favorite spot to grab a croissant and coffee before work, LOVE the people working there !
I just had one of the best salads of my life. Add sopressata to your tomato & mozzarella salad, ask for dressing on the side and you can thank me later.
Love this place esp. morning special breakfast! Good fried eggs, toast just right with cheese and taste just excellent. Happy and content and start my day! Thank you so much for the great work!
Wow! Shout out to Cafe Gabriela. I was welcomed as soon as I walked in and immediately felt at home. They really put love in everything. This place is right next to the downtown courtyard Marriott & the Oakland convention center. They’ve got an amazing breakfast sandwich (til 11am) and delish pulled pork for lunch! If you’re downtown Oakland you gotta stop by..
I love everything about this restaurant. First the food is really excellent. Try the pulled pork sandwich. Or the roasted turkey. Everything is freshly baked, roasted, picked from the garden. Next, their coffee drinks are top rate. Also, it is a small business owned by women. They are very socially conscious and all their products are recyclable and fair trade. The place fills up quick if you want to eat there, but you might run into the Warriors staff, who have offices across the street. I've met Bob Meyers and the whole coaching staff. Beat that.
Good people, good food & good coffee. The people within remember you, your name & are genuinely kind individuals.
I was fortunate to stumble upon Cafe Gabriela looking for a which lunch when I was in the area. This is a very nice and simple place with the feel of the Philippines inside. I really like the interior and seeing the variety of artwork on the walls.I ordered the Sotanghon noodle soup and what was apparently their staple, the pulled pork adobo sandwich. The Sotanghon soup was not bad. However, due to it being fattier and greasier than I was expecting, I was not able to fully finish the whole serving. The pulled pork adobo sandwich tasted good. My only issue was that some of the pork was a little dry. However, I do like the baguette they used, as it allowed the sandwich to not get very soggy as I was eating it with the sauce of the adobo soaking into the bread. Service was very nice and I enjoyed the conversation I had with the staff while they were preparing my order. I suppose it does help I am Filipino!
My favorite place for lunch in Oakland. Their Caprese Sandwich is out of this world!!
Great service, I had the popular italian combo it was the best sandwich. I would make this a must to try while in Oakland.
Downtown Oakland has a lot of really good food options. This is, to me, the best. The food is locally sourced, super fresh and the people are the kind you want to give your money to. She even gave me the recipe for my favorite order there. After trying to recreate it at home, I could only come close to replicating it by using the ingredients directly from my garden and as fresh as possible. It says something about their ingredients and the pride they take in the food they serve you.
Good coffee, good pastries, good music, good posters, good people. More of a take-out than sit-in cafe.
First time there and had the best pastry and mocha OF MY LIFE!! Didn't know what I was getting going in, but the person at the front suggested something (flaky pastry with nuts and some sort of sugary goodness in the middle). I can't wait to go back for lunch! Had an amazing vibe on top of the awesome staff and food.
The BEST breakfast sandwich in Oakland! Great coffee.
Do I want a salad? Or do I want a sandwich? Salad! No sandwich! No salad... I cant decide... oh wait! A half and half lunch combo. There is a god! This place is wonderful. Intimate with great customer service. The food was great too... It gets busy at lunch time so there may be a wait - but if you get in the door before 11:45 you should be okay, otherwise be prepared to wait a little while. Its a small store with a small staff and totally worth it. My salad and sandwich was fresh, light and tasty. They also serve Blue Bottle Coffee - which was a little pricey but I know many people consider it their crack. ;)Anyway, I highly recommend this place!
Just what I needed before the test next door. No stress good vibes easy wake up!
This is among best sandwich places in area
This place is beautiful with a wide selection. I was the last person, but they got my order wrong. I still tipped generously. Kindly asked what the name of the drink was. I'm not picky but when I asked for a hot black coffee, naturally I was curious of what was this iced white drink was composed of. They started pointing fingers at each other of who was to blame for the mixup. I said it was okay, it's not a big deal, and one lady rudely replied it was my partner's fault. As for the drink itself, it was quite sour and bitter. I honestly dont know what was in it but I gave it to a homeless fellow who looked quite delighted to have it. I wish the best for this place but it didn't do it for us.
